The competition has been held every three years in Tel Aviv, Israel since 1974. In 1974, Jan Jacob Bistritzky established the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition to promote the careers of young and outstanding pianists. The Arthur Rubinstein Award and other prizes are presented to the winners.
